Hey everyone! Gerard here from mydigifarm
Let me start with a confession: before joining the mydigifarm team, the closest I ever got to “gardening” was choosing the ripest tomato at the grocery store. So when I was invited to be a part of a project that lives and breathes plants, I had a moment of panic. I mean, these people talk about soil health the way foodies talk about sourdough starters with pure, unfiltered passion.
To be completely honest, I felt like the odd one out. I didn’t grow up around gardens. I’ve never potted a plant, pruned a bush, or even kept a succulent alive (and those are supposedly unkillable). So when I stepped into a team that casually swapped tips about composting and vertical gardens during meetings, imposter syndrome hit hard.
But here’s the twist: their passion was infectious.
Every time someone lit up while sharing their latest harvest or planting something new, I felt a little spark of curiosity. Then something wild happened. I found myself actually wanting to grow something. I was inspired, nervous, but mostly excited.
Now, I live in a space that’s less “rolling farmland” and more “urban minimalist.” No sprawling backyard, no fancy greenhouse just a small patch of usable space and a whole lot of determination.
So I decided to start small: a raised garden bed. One bed, three plants, and one very ambitious beginner.
I pitched the idea to the team, expecting a polite nod or maybe some beginner tips. But to my surprise, they loved it. Like, really loved it.
So much so that we decided to turn my little garden effort into a fun little competition*, but stay tuned for more on that later!
And also be sure to check back with me for more updates on my new journey growing and remember it is never too late to start something great!!!
