Week 7: The Battle Of The Basils – Nick vs. Gerard

This is it, friends the moment we’ve all been waiting for!
After 7 intense weeks of competition, we’ve officially entered the final stretch of the Battle of the Basils!

Next week, the votes will be tallied and the winner crowned, but this week? This week is make or break. It’s the last chance for our contestants to secure their place in basil history.

Will it be Nick or Gerard who claims the glory and becomes the very first Battle of the Basils champion?

Let’s check in with Nick and see what developments might just tip the scales in his favor…

They say slow and steady wins the race and Nick might just be proving that true. While his progress hasn’t been the flashiest, he’s been quietly and consistently moving forward, week after week. Unlike Gerard’s big Basil boom, Nick’s success story is more of a steady climb, but one that’s clearly paying off. His herbs are thriving, inching closer to harvest with each passing week. The results may not shout, but they definitely speak.

Nick’s unwavering dedication to consistency deserves serious recognition. While his performance may not be the flashiest, the steady gains and impressive volume of output he’s delivered speak volumes. Don’t overlook it, this kind of reliability could very well be the key to clinching the crown!

A perfect 5-for-5 on his Sage, now that’s impressive! Nick’s got every one of his seed beds in full bloom, proving he’s got the magic touch

Both Nick and Gerard have faced their fair share of challenges with Parsley, but despite the setbacks, Nick has managed to push through and come out on top so far delivering some impressive looking yields in the process.

Thunderstorms and grey skies, punctuated by bursts of intense sunshine and sweltering humidity, have thrown Gerard’s world into chaos since day one of this contest. While these wild weather swings might have fueled some impressive growth, could they also be the reason Gerard’s victory slips through his fingers? Overwatering combined with scorching sun is a tricky dance especially for delicate herbs in their early stages and it’s been Gerard’s greatest challenge for weeks. On one hand, it sparked the biggest basil growth spurt in the history of The Battle of the Basils; on the other, it’s mercilessly taking a toll on the more fragile parsley and sage, leaving them struggling to survive.

Basil for days, folks! Just look at these beauties, growing nonstop like they’ve got somewhere to be! This is way beyond what Gerard ever expected on his very first try at growing basil. Talk about a green thumb in the making!

Oh Sage, how fleeting our time together has been! For Gerard, this scene has become almost a daily ritual ever since the relentless rainy season turned up the heat. While a few healthy sprigs bravely hold their ground, the battle to keep Sage thriving has been a tough uphill climb for Gerard.

At first, Gerard was convinced he’d never see even a single parsley sprout break through the soil. But this just proves that with enough determination and grit, anything is possible! Even as we near the end of the competition, Gerard has surprised us all by nurturing not one, but two healthy parsley plants into the mix. Talk about a late-game comeback!

Wow, what an incredible week from our contestants! The rollercoaster of challenges, the steady progress, and the fierce determination have shaped two unstoppable finalists ready to take on the judges in the ultimate showdown. That’s right you heard it here first! Next week, we crown the very first champion of The Battle of the Basils, and trust me, you won’t want to miss a single moment. We’ll be unveiling all the judging criteria so you can see exactly how the winner earned their crown. Get ready for an epic finale, can’t wait to see you all back here for the grand conclusion!
